Entertainment San Antonio Style

Tourism is San Antonio's biggest business. We know how to keep you entertained. From the historic missions to the newest rides at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Sea World, you won't spend a boring minute here. Here are just of few of our favorite attractions.

The Alamo in San Antonio TxThe Alamo

San Antonio Missions

The chain of missions established along the San Antonio River in the 18th century are reminders of one of Spain's most successful attempts to extend its New World dominion northward from Mexico. They were the greatest concentration of Catholic missions in North America. Visit the Mission page and try the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park page.

San Antonio River Walk

The River Walk is the focus point of downtown San Antonio. It's lined with hotels, shops and restaurants. Take a virtual tour of the walk here.

Southtown
Located on the southern edge of downtown close to the King William area. It's an area of large warehouses taken up by local artist's. Southtown is a newer redevelopment and it growing with galleries, restaurants and shops. The Blue Star Arts complex has exhibitions and shops with San Antonio area artists works on display. Most areas are open to the public, and offer intimate access to unique works of art.

Buckhorn Saloon & Museum
Buckhorn Saloon & Museum boasts a 118 year old bar. Sip spirits, beer or soda while you enjoy live entertainment with a Texas twist. Entertainment includes trick roping, an old west card act, cowboy poet and gunfighters. Then head on over to the Buckhorn Arcade for fun and games or visit the many exhibit halls where you'll find one of the most amazing collections you've ever seen, including "Old Tex" a longhorn with an 8' 9" horn span. Next take a walk through the Hall of Texas History Wax Museum or visit the Curio Store for those one-of-a-kind souvenirs. All the excitement is sure to work up your appetite, so head for the saloon and try something wild like grilled whitewings or just traditional Texas fare. Hemisfair Park
Hemisfair Park is locate downtown and was built for the 1968 Hemisfair World's Fair. The park includes the Tower of the Americas where you can view the city from its 750ft. High observation deck or dine in it's revolving restaurant. Also located in the park are the Institute of Texan Cultures and the Mexican Cultural Institute

The San Antonio Symphony

Guenther House
Built in 1860 by Carl Hilmar Guenther. Founder of Pioneer Flour Mills and restored by the mills as a museum, restaurant and shop.

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens
A beautiful botanical site that provides tours, research and educational programs (adult and child) and other events. Be sure and visit their web site up hours and schedule.

San Antonio Museum of Art

The museum is located at 200 Jones Ave, just North of downtown. They offer guided tours, lectures, films, gallery talks, concerts, formally organized education programs for children, docent program and council, lona, temporary, permanent and traveling exhibitions.

Seaworld of Texas
Join the party as SeaWorld Texas, the world's largest marine life adventure park, add new shows and rides every year. A splashy lineup of more than 25 spectacular shows, animal attractions and educational experiences introduces guests to killer whales, beluga whales, dolphins, sea lions, penguins and much more. Sea World of Texas is one of nine Anheuser-Busch Theme Parks. Okay, killer whales are not a part of San Antonio's history but you'll have a lot of fun here anyway.

Schlitterbahn
This is the greatest water park in the world. 65 acres of slides, pools, inner tube floats, kiddie parks, high-tech water rides and year-round resort rooms--all nestled on the banks of the spring-fed Comal River in scenic New Braunfels, Texas just outside San Antonio. If you're here in the heat of the summer, Schlitterbahn is a must visit.

IMAX Theater
Catch "Alamo - The Price of Freedom" and relive history's unforgettable thirteen days of glory as 189 Texan and Tejano defenders fight for Texas Independence. IMAX puts you in the middle of this historic action with its six-story screen and six-track stereo sound.

The San Antonio Zoo

See what's up and what' new at the zoo. With over 3,000 animals representing 700 species, The San Antonio Zoo maintains one of the largest animal collections in the United States. Located in Brackenridge Park, the Zoo is situated at the headwaters of the San Antonio River, and is surrounded by scenic limestone cliffs.

Hertzberg Circus Museum
Hertzberg Circus Museum is the largest collection of Circus memorabilia in the world, with over 42,000 pieces and 3,000 books on the American circus experience and its impact on our society. Centerpieces include a scale model of a circus big-top and an extensive collection of circus posters from the 1890s to the 1940s.
